Color picker from image
Click anywhere in a photo to read its exact colour as HEX, RGB and HSL — plus the main colours of the image. Locally, no upload.
How the colour picker works
Load a photo, screenshot or design mock-up and move the cursor over it. The tool reads the exact pixel under the pointer and shows its colour as a HEX code, as RGB values and as HSL. Click to keep a colour in the history, and use the copy buttons to paste the code straight into your CSS, design tool or document.
On a phone you simply touch and drag across the image. The values update live while you move, so you can scan a picture for the right shade without clicking at all.
Finding the main colours of an image
Next to the picker the tool lists the eight most dominant colours of the image. They are calculated with a median-cut algorithm on a reduced copy of the picture, which groups similar shades and returns the average of each group. That makes it a quick way to build a palette from a logo, a product photo or a piece of artwork.
Click any swatch to load its values. Because dominant colours are averages, they can differ slightly from a single pixel — use the picker itself when you need one exact value.
HEX, RGB or HSL — which to copy
HEX is the compact form used in CSS and most design tools. RGB lists the red, green and blue channels from 0 to 255 and is common in code and graphics software. HSL describes hue, saturation and lightness, which makes it the easiest format to adjust by hand — raise the lightness to get a lighter tint of the same colour.
Note that colours in a JPG can shift slightly because of compression; for brand colours, pick from a PNG or the original design file where possible. Everything runs in your browser and the image is never uploaded.
